Senior Dog Program

Here you will find all our SENIOR (7+ years) dogs who are ready to Retire in a loving forever home

Senior dogs have always held a special place in the hearts of rescuers. So we are excited to introduce you to our Senior Dog Program.

Why is there a need to dedicate a program to senior dogs? Older dogs often have to go from a comfortable home situation into a noisy shelter through no fault of their own. Sometimes, their owners get sick and can no longer care for them. Other times, the owners simply can’t afford the increased expenses that can come with a senior dog. In many cases, sadly, families think that their senior dogs are simply too old, and so, they abandon them. These situations are heartbreaking, and they place senior dogs at especially high-risk for euthanasia when surrendered to a shelter. Most will not make it out alive.

We know that every dog, no matter what the age, has plenty of love to offer and deserves love in return.  We make sure that our senior dogs are placed in special, senior-focused foster/forever homes where they receive plenty of love, attention, and room to roam. Our senior dogs receive the same medical care that any beast in our care would receive from our highly qualified vet partners.  We want to make sure that they are safe, healthy, and never feel discarded again like all the rescues we come across.

Please consider adopting or permanently fostering a senior today. Help us help them by giving them the opportunity to live out their lives with dignity and respect and in a home where they will be truly cherished.

Why adopt/permanent foster a Senior pet?

1. Limited Training

In most cases, senior pets have already been housebroken and know basic commands. This means you get to spend less time training and more time bonding in other ways, such as snuggling and playing!

2. What You See Is What You Get

Senior pets have already reached their adult size and weight, so there’s no questioning if they will outgrow your home.

3. Hyperactive or Low-Key?

When you meet a puppy or kitten for the first time, their personality at that point in their life can vary greatly from the personality they’ll have as an adult. When you meet a senior pet, you have a better idea if they’re sweet and cuddly or fun-loving and energetic, giving you the information you need to make an educated decision on the right pet for your family.

How does it work?

1. Complete an application to adopt a senior dog

2. Have a homecheck completed

3. Make a donation for their adoption fee (No fixed fee)

4. Welcome your new family member
